Formed in 2011, this local band are well known on the South West Jazz circuit and have gone on to perform at some of the most respected jazz festivals in the UK including Cheltenham, Marlborough, Plymouth Jazz & Blues Festival, Ealing and of course our own music-loved jazz festival here in Teignmouth, where they have appeared several times.
Performing their carefully selected modern jazz repertoire for the first time at The Pavilions, the quartet has established a reputation for bringing accessible chamber jazz to a wider audience.
A fine example of the talent right here on our doorstep in Teignmouth, many of the musicians in Ronnie’s quartet live either in, or just a few miles from the town.
Band leader Ronnie Jones is an in-demand session jazz drummer and percussionist who is known for sensitive and imaginative playing, with appearances as varied as the Welsh Proms to BBC 6 Music and Welsh TV in recent years.
Ronnie is joined by Teignmouth-based guitarist Joss Kidd, whose playing fuses Pat Metheny’s imagination with the soulful emotional connection of Joe Pass and Jim Hall. On Bass is David George, a well-respected player in all formats of jazz, from Big Band to duo. On Sax is Gary Bayley, a veteran of the British jazz scene whose impressive musical cv ranges from playing with legendary US soul stars, to appearing at the London Jazz Festival five times, as well as performing at Ronnie Scott’s and Pizza Express jazz clubs in London’s Soho and playing live on BBC Radio 3 as a member of the critically acclaimed Mike Westbrook band.
