1 MAY GUIDED PAINTING New!   Painting a beautiful colour wheel and learning more about colour.   10.30 -4.30  £67  [Utter beginners /improvers. Acrylic]

Colour is endlessly enticing and none more so than a full colour wheel that is so beautifully painted it deserves a place on our wall or in the studio to inspire us. Yet colour is complicated and can be mystifying to the student artist.

Today Liana will demonstrate an attractive acrylic version on a square canvas that you can follow confidently, step by step and have a completed painting by the end of the day. Trained in colour analysis, she will simultaneously explain the bewildering array of colour jargon in a down to earth way.

Using glazes, palette knife impasto and other techniques, beginners can keep it simple whilst improvers may want to embellish more.Along the way we are going to explore and learn the placing of colours on a colour wheel [the hues],learn how to mix and create their variations and consider the relationships that work well and those that don’t. Clarifying the difference between warms and cools and their uses and helping you ‘get your eye in’ to judging colours and using them more confidently.

Originally created for beginners, our fun guided days build in easy stages, yet have become popular amongst improvers too as you learn artists tips and tricks for painting, assessing and refining a painting all in a day. This is an ideal ‘have a go’ start for utter beginners. So all welcome! We have gift vouchers if you want to encourage someone to start.

Specific colours will be particularly needed today so do look at the materials list below in good time. If you are an absolute beginner and want to try before you buy, I offer a £5 [cash payable to tutor on the day] intro pack of canvas, palette, sufficient paint and loan of brushes, if you order this with the box office by the friday  26th April. Please bring the additional household items suggested on the list.

Our ‘at a glance’ programme for the season is here to help you plan. Come and treat yourself to an enjoyable day with like-minded company, in a bright, airy studio, coffee nearby and there’s always some laughter and surprises!

Students paint for all sorts of reasons...skills, an enjoyable hobby, social life, self-expression, relaxation and so on. Liana’s sessions are considered good value, inspiring and packed with tips ; several serious students have even gone on to sell their work.

Liana is a seasoned trainer, therapist and artist, skilled at breaking down learning steps, instilling confidence and creating a warm, fun, supportive atmosphere. All students are also invited to join her Artists Circle community for free challenges, news, critiquing and teaching.

‘ I always leave class with a whole host of new skills, but more than that, I have a new energy and belief in myself to carry forward into my art, my life. If you want to get your artistic mojo back, sign up!’ C. D

Please help us prepare well for you by booking at least two days before a course. Every effort will be made to accommodate last minute bookings, if there are places still available. Thankyou.
