This six week course will delve into art, architecture and design from 1880 onwards.  We will look at how the Post-Impressionists set the stage for modern art and design and each week will be dedicated to the art movements, artists, designers and architects who helped to shape the modern world.  The primary focus will be on Europe and America, with references to non-Western art and design which was an important influence.  We will look at all of the major modernist art movements before exploring contemporary developments from the 1990's onwards.
