This 6 week course is an introduction to the main themes and styles, periods, artists and movements in Art History.

Covering an extensive timeline from prehistory to contemporary art, we will be looking at particular examples of architecture, sculpture, painting, photography/film and installation art to discuss form and function, social/historical and political contexts and the artists themselves.

The first part of each session will consist of a short talk, on selected periods/themes in Art History followed by a group discussion. By the end of the course you will have a good overview of the major periods and art movements in Art History and some insights into notable art and architecture created by artists/sculptors/architects throughout history to the present day!
