Bomba!

The Bomba rhythm is a signature protest rhythm of Puerto Rico dating back to the African diaspora. There are many different ‘Bombas’, this session will serve as an introduction and allow you to see how different tonal polyrhythms come together to form a rhythmic melody.

Originally played on Spanish rum barrels (Bombas), in this session we’ll be playing djembes, kpanlogos, dun dun bass drums and a range of percussion including bells, shakers and clave. Expect big drum breaks, big smiles and most of all lots of fun!  

All sessions are accessible and open to all. Drums are provided or you are welcome to bring your own. Booking is essential. Class runs from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. 

Classes are aimed at 16+

Four drum classes in total running April 2nd, 9th, 23rd and 30th. Each class £15 or £50 for all.
