...my first love will always be animal and human figurative art which give me the opportunity to indulge myself painting in that love....

I took the opportunity last year to hang my paintings here in Teignmouth Pavilions and I am excited to have been invited back again this year. I am a self-taught, artist specialising in animal and human figurative art in particular, but as a challenge I have started to try and widen my horizons and keep my work fresh by dipping into abstract art, which I find amazingly difficult.

In the same vein, I have always been happy to accept the challenge of any commissions that come my way, whatever the subject matter and I have also resolved to do a few landscapes in the coming year to get me out of my comfort zone. ( For some reason I told myself for years that I had no talent for landscapes, but recently, looking back through my portfolio I now realise that is not actually true. )

However, my first love will always be animal and human figurative art which give me the opportunity to indulge myself painting in that love. I am fascinated how a single line can change a whole painting for the better or worse, losing a likeness or mood of a subject, or suddenly pulling the whole together changing it for the better.

I thank you for all the kind comments I received last year which were passed on to me and truly appreciated. I do hope you find this year’s selection of my work equally enjoyable and praiseworthy.

A selection of Amanda's work will be available to view at Pavilions Teignmouth from Moday 26th February until Friday 28th March. pieces will be available to buy and entry to view exhibitions is, as always, free of charge.
