Kpanlogo!

The Ghanaian rhythm Kpanlogo came about in the late 1950’s in the lead up to and during Ghana’s independence from the British colonial rule. It draws of earlier traditional rhythms of the Ga people of southern Ghana. Played on tonal Kpanlogo drums, around a 3-2 clave motif, you will hear how different rhythmical phrases come together to create a whole rhythmic melody.

Kpanlogo is an evolving rhythm still played to this day. We will play and range of drums and percussion including kpanlogos, djembes, dun dun bass drums, bells and and shakers. Expect big drum breaks, big smiles and most of all lots of fun!

All sessions are accessible and open to all. Drums are provided or you are welcome to bring your own. Booking is essential. Class runs from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
