Painting is as easy as swiping some colour onto paper but gets complicated if we truly want to understand the ‘rules’ of good painting. Even if we want to break the rules, it’s best to know them first!
As we learn to paint, we often need to hear the principles several times and even then we retain only certain ones! Our favourites! But what if you could take your painting to a whole new level by considering and trying out ALL the fundamental elements? Perhaps experimenting and adding a few at a time to your work.
Today will be a journey through the 10 most important keys to good painting, allowing you to try them, build a ‘bible’ of them and choose which fit your work and style. Some you may know, some you may have forgotten. All deserve a visit as you explore their use. On the way this might also help you clarify your preferences and style too.
Beginners are welcome as an invaluable fast track overview of painting [but please note in this workshop the focus will be mainly on the keys and concepts, not on HOW to paint]. However, you will need your favourite medium to do lots of exercises concluding in a image.[Do look at suggestions in the materials list below]. A special day that should make you feel like a ‘proper’ knowledgeable artist!!
