Some people think abstracts are easy, don’t you just slap it on anywhere?! Good abstracts take composition, design ,drawing and tone awareness just like any other painting. But they also give us freedom to express an idea in a completely different way and can be great fun. Starting with some exercises to loosen up, we’ll learn about the necessary elements and how to work to our own signature style. Maybe you just want to improve your backgrounds with abstracted motifs and colours or move further along the scale towards abstraction, this workshop will loosen ideas, hands and style…and give you lots to take away and build on.

Never has our need for personal creativity been so highlighted as during lockdown and the ongoing change to life that many are still experiencing. Creativity aids our wellbeing, giving us relaxing activity, pleasure in our achievements, good company, enhanced self esteem, to name but a few benefits. We continue to work safely, in a large, airy, light studio. 

Our in house art tutor, Liana, teaches the range of traditional and experimental art courses to get you into your creativity ‘groove’. With her usual warmth, patience and humour she’ll take you further than you expected to go, perhaps discovering hidden talent and an absorbing hobby and friends along the way.

Many of us are held back from trying by criticism or harsh comments in our youth. As an experienced life coach and therapist, she’ll also show you how to lessen your self criticism and negative mind chatter so that your painting has the best chance flourish. Sometimes we get in our own way.

Watch out for the new Saturday workshops from September and the life coaching work shops coming in the New Year, in the meantime one to one art or life coaching/therapy sessions from Liana are also available, please contact the box office.
